Students are encouraged to participate in FFA. This
will allow students to be able to show animals at the Collin County
Youth Show.
The FFA is soon approaching a busy time of the year,
Stock Show and Judging Contest season. It all begins in January and
runs through May. Stock shows that Anna FFA students attend will
include Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, San Antonio Stock Show and
Rodeo, Collin County Junior Livestock Show, and Houston Livestock Show
and Rodeo. Many students exhibit their projects in small local shows as
well. Judging contests that we will be entering include: Tarleton State
University Invitational Judging Contest, West Texas A & M Judging
Contest, Clarendon College Judging Contest, and Area V Judging contest
held at Texas A & M Commerce. The Anna FFA will be represented by a
livestock judging team, wildlife judging team, and a horse judging team
at all of these events.
The horticulture department is preparing for the
holidays by selling Christmas poinsettias. When we return from
Christmas holidays, preparations will be made in the greenhouse for the
arrival of spring plants. While waiting the arrival of spring plants,
plans will be made to landscape parts of the high school campus. In
preparing for the landscaping project, students will illustrate their
creativeness in their landscape designs and ideas.
The booster club is staying very busy preparing for
all of its upcoming events. The next even to be help will be the Annual
Chili Supper and Auction. This auction benefits the students that
participate in the Collin County Junior Livestock Show. The booster
club will also be helping host the Annual Anna FFA Local Show.
