Band I
Grade 9, 1 Credit
Band teaches a student how to play an
instrument, how to read musical notes, and how to coordinate with other
instruments in the class. The student is required to participate
in group playing such as concerts, football games, pep assemblies, and
UIL contests.
Band II
Grade 10, 1 Credit
Band teaches a student how to play an
instrument, how to read musical notes, and how to coordinate with other
instruments in the class. The student is required to participate
in group playing such as concerts, football games, pep assemblies, and
UIL contests.
Band III
Grade 11, 1 Credit
Band teaches a student how to play an
instrument, how to read musical notes, and how to coordinate with other
instruments in the class. The student is required to participate
in group playing such as concerts, football games, pep assemblies, and
UIL contests.
Band IV
Grade 12, 1 Credit
Band teaches a student how to
play an instrument, how to read musical notes, and how to coordinate
with other instruments in the class. The student is required to
participate in group playing such as concerts, football games, pep
assemblies, and UIL contests.
Jazz Band
Grades 9 - 12, 1 Credit
Prerequisite: Band Member & Instructor
Approval
Jazz Band offers beginning through
advanced instrumental techniques in the swing, rock, blues, and samba
styles of music. Improvisation is also introduced. Students
will play and perform small ensemble, combo, or full jazz band.
Instrumentation may be made up of rhythm guitar, drum set, wind
instruments, keyboards and singer.
